Dr. Ioan Piuariu Molnar Memorial House – is located on the street with the same name, at number four.
Ioan Piuariu-Molnar (b. 1749 in Sadu Sibiu – d. March 16, 1815, Cluj) is the first Romanian graduate physician, linguist and translator. Surgeon of the University of Vienna, physician in Sibiu and professor of ophthalmology at the Medical-Surgical School of Cluj, author of the first Romanian-German grammar textbook, a paper on universal history and a Romanian-German dictionary, he initiated the first medical scientific publication: “Advice for surgery students” (1793) and collaborated in the drafting the of Supplex Libellus Valachorum.
He was initiated into the “St. Andreas” Masonic lodge of Sibiu on the 16th of September 1781. He received his Companion and Master Degrees from the same lodge, on April 17 1783, respectively, October 13, 1784.
