His Grace dr. Visarion Răşinăreanul

His Grace Visarion was born on October 19th, 1959 in Tălmaciu, Sibiu County. Valedictorian at the Sibiu Faculty of Theology, he receives his bachelor’s degree in 1968 with his paper called “The Romanian Orthodox Church as seen by foreign travelers (15th-19th century)”, written under the guidance of priest Prof. Dr. Mircea Păcurariu. He took PhD courses at the same university, and from 1994 to 1997, he studied theology and philosophy in Athens. On the 5th of May 1989 he was tonsured a monk at Brancoveanu Monastery in Sâmbăta de Sus by the late Metropolitan Antonie Plămădeală. In August of the same year he was ordained deacon and then in October 1997 ieromonah at the Romanian Orthodox Cathedral in Cluj by His Eminence Bartolomeu Anania Archbishop of Vad, Feleac and Cluj. He was raised to the rank of bishop on the 12th of October 1997, the ordination service taking place in the Coronation Cathedral of Alba Iulia. His Grace Visarion Răşinăreanul is the author of three books and over 150 articles and studies that have appeared in various publications. Nowadays, he is the Bishop of Tulcea.
